About Dustin

Dustin Yonkovich

is the Children’s Pastor at Lakeview Bible Church in Nampa. He has been heading up a Good News Club at Greenhurst Elementary for several years, and has established some good relationships within the schools and community. Here are two stories, that he recently said inspired him.

One of the most memorable stories from our club was from a little girl who attends regularly. I don’t believe her family attends a church, at least not regularly. One day she commented, “Good News Club is my church.” While I know our desire is that her family would get connected to a church, I’m grateful to see her feel a sense of community at GNC and have the opportunity to hear the word of the Lord.

The second happened outside of GNC at our church. I regularly try to connect families with our church. I have regularly invited our clubbers to church events over the past couple of years but never had any families take me up on the offer. I was quite pleased to see a few attend our Sports and Art Camp last June (our VBS equivalent). Then this fall, we had half a dozen show up at our Fall Festival with their parents. We’ve had one family come to church since starting our club, but that only for a couple of weeks. However, the positive is we’re slowly starting to engage families outside of our club meeting time.

Thanks, Dustin, for serving the Lord in this way!

Volunteer Spotlight KAREN HOFFMAN

About KAREN

Karen Hoffman

“I’ve been married for 36 years, and my husband was in the military for 32 of those years.   We moved on average every 2 – 3 years and during those many assignments I’ve taught at Christian Schools at many Children’s Church ministries and Vacation Bible Schools, however only recently (at a Mom’s In Prayer meeting) have I ever heard of The Good News Club or Child Evangelism Fellowship! I feel a strong calling to children’s ministry particularly because it was through many people who answered that same calling that I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior: the church bus ministry team that drove by my grandparents neighborhood where we lived and invited me to church, the Children’s Church teachers who taught me about Jesus and the lady who showed me verses in the Bible and helped me pray and invite Jesus into my heart as my personal Savior.  Although I don’t remember any of these people, I know they all played a part in my salvation!  I want more than anything to be a co-worker in God’s service!”

1 Corinthians 3:6-9

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Karen contacted me and was so excited to jump into this ministry. And jump in – she did! Karen serves as the main teacher and Coordinator for two brand-new clubs: Collister and Desert Sage Elementary! Her love for Jesus shines through her, and you can’t help but notice her passion and energy when you meet her. Please pray for Karen and for these two clubs, as they have had a “slow-start” with no children showing up. We thank the Lord for sending Karen to join us in this mission in the Treasure Valley!
